Market Days

Shopping in Bodrum Peninsula

Markets

Visitors to Turkey are always amazed by the rich diversity of fresh fruits, vegetables and spices sold in markets. But, what really make the food markets (or farmers markets) in Bodrum so distinctive are the mixture of visions, aromas, sounds and motion, as well as the excellence of fresh food which outside of your own garden or greenhouse – can only be obtained in the Pazars. Turkey is one of the rare countries in the world able to support its own domestic food requirements. This is more than obvious at the weekly markets where sleepy towns become so vivid with villagers putting up their stands before sun rise at a chosen space to sell their merchandises. On these days, an abundance of vegetables, fruits, fresh and dried herbs, uncountable types of spices, nuts, seeds, grains, homemade jams are displayed on the modest stalls.
