EAST NEKROPOLIS OF HALIKARNASSUS
British archeologist Sir Charles Newton, who made excavations in the ancient city of Halicarnassus (Bodrum) in the 19th century, also excavated the eastern necropolis of the city, which was called Kışlalık at that time.

During the recent excavations by the Bodrum Museum, 51 tombs were excavated in the same area. Archeologists discovered Different burial customs and types of graves. The grave finds proved that the prosperity and wealth of the Hekatomnid dynasty continued during the Hellenistic Period. Among the artifacts uncovered in these tombs, archaeologists found Kerch vases quite popular from the 4th century onward. Mythological subjects such as Amazons, griffins, and dragons are depicted in Kerch vases, on which white-colored or gilded slender, tall figures come to the fore. Kerch vases, which spread from the Aegean Coasts to Southern France, are abundantly seen in the Eastern cemetery of the city.
Architectural parts of the temple of Apollo also catch our eye in this hall.
In the last showcase of the hall, a Kerch Vase and jewelry belonging to the tomb found by chance recently are exhibited.

There are two essential inscriptions in front of this hall. One is an inscription belonging to the sacrificial ceremonies in the Dor districts of Halicarnassus. The second inscription is the famous maximum price edict issued by Emperor Diocletian to control inflation and prices.
